The Ministry of National Defense issues a press release explaining the "increased purchase of the Long-range Precision Fire Strike System (Project Thunder Storm) by the Army" (May 10, 2023)

The Ministry of National Defense (MND) stated today that Army has further purchased 18 sets of Long-Range Precision Fire Strike Systems (Project Thunder Storm), namely the High Mobility Advanced Rocket System (HIMARS) and other equipment as part of continuous procurements and military investments. As for the Letter of Offer and Acceptance (LoA), the MND published the amended announcement of the award today (10th) in accordance with the relevant provisions of the Government Procurement Law.
The MND stated that the additional system equipment purchased for the entire project was originally planned to be delivered in 2027. Nonetheless, the United States adjusted the order of equipment acquisition in response to our needs, so that key equipment under the project could be delivered earlier.
