Army Command issues a press release about media reports concerning "Volcano Anti-tank Munition-laying Systems purchased by the Army"

Press release of Army Command

In response to concerns reported in the media and from the general public about
"Volcano Anti-tank Munition-laying Systems purchased by the Army", Command
pointed out today (16 th ) that the use of "Volcanic Anti-tank Munition-laying System"
during war can effectively counter rapid amphibious landings by the CCP army.
When the systems work in conjunction with the seamless deployment of servicemen
and firepower, breakthroughs in landing and the anticipated motor routes of the
enemy can be achieved; the systems are able to implement "limited, maneuvers with
precision" covering extensive areas, and effectively prevent invasions by the enemy.
Thus, such systems are part of necessary measures to ensure the safety of our
homeland when faced with enemy threats.

Army Command indicated that the CCP has normalized the use of military aircraft
and warships in recent years to conduct attacks in the sea and airspace around
Taiwan, and has also flown over the median line of the Taiwan Strait on many
occasions to execute target-oriented triphibian landing drills with increasing
capability and seeming intention to invade Taiwan by force. In response to "enemy
threats" and "defense operation requirements", the Army has worked with the
research and development of tactics and operation measures, hence why it has
purchased such new and intelligent warfare to protect, and significantly improve
ground defense combat capabilities. Furthermore, since the systems are equipped
with features such as "timed self-destruction", "magnetic induction detonation",
"minefield marking", and "easy identification and removal", they differ from
traditional mines buried underground and can prevent our troops and the general
public from harm.

The Army emphasizes that servicemen have worked very hard to build up the
military's combat-readiness. Nonetheless, some people have misunderstood the
situation and distorted the intended use of "Munition-laying Systems" by spreading
rumors such as "Forced procurement by the US", "Violation of the Ottawa Treaty",
and "Taiwan will be covered in mines." Such rumors are counter-productive to our
cause and only help feed the enemy's morale, therefore Army Command urges our
nationals to support the Armed Forces in their defense preparations. The Army is
confident that when it has obtained the new combat equipment it will be well-
equipped for combat and can effectively safeguard national security.
