Armament Bureau Production Center Issues Press Release Regarding “Mislabeling of ROC Armed Forces Combat Boots”

Armament Bureau Production Center Press Release
Time: 2020 hours, August 27, 2025

In response to media reports alleging “mislabeling of ROC Armed Forces combat boots,” the Armament Bureau Production Center stated today (August 27) that Shen Tsai Company’s subcontractor, Jen Mao Company, was found by the Kaohsiung Customs Service of the Ministry of Finance on July 18, 2024, during customs declaration, to have labeled Vietnamese-made “microfiber combat boots” with “MADE IN TAIWAN,” constituting a case of country-of-origin mislabeling. The batch of products was returned to Vietnam on August 7, 2024, and did not enter the ROC Armed Forces’ contract fulfillment and inspection stage.

The Armament Bureau clarified that Shen Tsai Company subsequently supplied “microfiber combat boots” produced by Taichung Li Yang Footwear Enterprise, which passed inspection on November 18, 2024, with penalties imposed for contractual delays. Claims such as “the Ministry of National Defense’s inspection mechanisms failed to function effectively” are not factual.
