Ministry of National Defense Issues Press Release Regarding “PLA’s Satellite Launch Mission from Xichang Satellite Launch Center in Sichuan”

The Ministry of National Defense stated today (August 17) that at 1655 hours, the People’s Republic of China conducted a satellite launch mission using a carrier rocket from the Xichang Satellite Launch Center in Sichuan. The rocket’s flight path passed through the southwestern part of Taiwan’s Air Defense Identification Zone toward the Western Pacific, at an altitude outside the atmosphere, posing no threat to Taiwan. The ROC Armed Forces employed the joint intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance system to closely monitor related activities and responded with appropriate vigilance and measures.
