Minister Ku Presides Over Disaster Response Center Coordination Meeting, Commends Troops for Proactive Disaster Relief Efforts
In response to the impact of moderate Typhoon Yagi on Taiwan, Minister of National Defense Ku Li-Hsiung today (August 13) presided over a coordination meeting of the Disaster Response Center. Addressing potential disaster damages, he reminded all operational zones to complete preparations and remain on standby, actively cooperating with the Central Disaster Response Center and local governments under the premise of ensuring safety, to engage in typhoon relief operations and collectively safeguard the safety of the public and their homes.
The Disaster Response Center coordination meeting was held in the evening at the Ministry of National Defense, with task force personnel and representatives from each operational zone reporting on the current typhoon situation and related preparedness efforts. Minister Ku first commended the dedication of personnel at all levels for steadfastly fulfilling their duties, directing them to maintain close communication, monitor local government needs, and be ready to provide necessary support to assist in disaster prevention and relief efforts. Disaster relief units should adjust equipment based on on-site conditions to ensure relief operations meet actual needs.
Minister Ku specially commended all troops for their diligent efforts in proactively and promptly engaging in disaster prevention and relief operations in response to local government needs, from Typhoon Danas and the destructive southwest monsoon to the current Typhoon Yagi. He also directed all levels of leadership to appropriately allocate manpower, balancing personnel duties with rest, and to strive to assist the public in minimizing disaster losses and restoring normal life as soon as possible.
