Minister Koo Visits Southern Region to Commend Disaster Relief Troops, Affirms Swift Response in Safeguarding the Homeland
Minister of National Defense Wellington Koo traveled to southern Taiwan this afternoon (July 14) to visit ROC Armed Forces personnel participating in post-disaster recovery operations. He presented bonus meal subsidies as a token of appreciation, and expressed sincere gratitude for their immediate response and selfless dedication in protecting local communities.
Minister Koo stated that Typhoon Danas recently caused widespread damage in the southern region. In response, the Ministry of National Defense promptly reviewed troop deployments and mobilized forces to assist with disaster relief tasks, including road clearance, debris removal, and the transportation of essential supplies—working closely with local governments to support recovery efforts.
He emphasized that although the ROC Armed Forces are currently conducting the Han Kuang 41 live-fire exercise, they have continued to provide timely and appropriate support to disaster-stricken areas. This demonstrates the military’s high level of operational flexibility and swift response capability. The Minister expressed heartfelt thanks to all service members involved in the relief effort for their tireless commitment, and encouraged them to continue working with dedication so that residents can resume normal life as soon as possible.
Minister Koo further affirmed that the ROC Armed Forces remain the strongest pillar of support for the people of Taiwan. He called on all personnel to maintain professionalism and efficiency in assisting local governments with reconstruction, underscoring the Armed Forces’ critical role in safeguarding both national security and the well-being of the public.
