Ministry of National Defense Press Release Regarding the "Adjustment Plan for the Military Group Accident Insurance"
Date: April 10, 2025, 20:20
The Ministry of National Defense (MND) stated today (10th) that, in order to strengthen the support provided to injured or deceased military personnel and their bereaved families, it has formulated the “Adjustment Plan for the Military Group Accident Insurance.” This plan was approved by the Executive Yuan on March 18, 2025, and is scheduled to be officially implemented on June 1, 2025.
The MND explained that the “Military Group Accident Insurance” has been in effect since 1998. Due to the continual rise in the domestic Consumer Price Index over the years, the current benefit amounts are no longer sufficient to meet the practical financial needs of injured service members or the families of the deceased. Accordingly, the MND has reviewed and adjusted the benefit amounts. The compensation for death or disability in the line of duty under “general duty” will be increased from NT$3.5 million to NT$10 million, and under “special duty” will be increased from NT$10 million to NT$20 million (as shown in the attached table).
The MND is currently proceeding, in accordance with the provisions of the “Military Group Accident Insurance Regulations,” to actively handle the subsequent amendments to insurance contracts and other related procedures. The goal is to ensure that the adjustment plan is implemented on time and with the intended quality, thereby enhancing the security coverage for service members during their period of service and strengthening the support for the families of the deceased.
