MND Press Release

The Ministry of National Defense (MND) stated today (Apr. 1) that since March 29, it has been monitoring the movements of the Chinese aircraft carrier Shandong fleet and its related aircraft and ship, which entered the response zone of our country. The R.O.C. armed forces have employed joint intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance methods, deploying mission aircraft, ships, and shore-based missile systems for a tight monitor and control. A response mechanism has been established to handle the situation appropriately.

The MND pointed out that the People’s Republic of China increased military activities continuously around Taiwan and in the Indo-Pacific region, aggressively escalated military threats not only in the Indo-Pacific but also globally. This openly challenges international order and undermines regional stability, making it the biggest "troublemaker" in the world. On the other hand, its internal problems such as severe corruption within military system, "the more they oppose, the more corrupt they become," and "false claims of military combat capabilities," further highlight its forcible-feeble predicament.

The MND emphasized that, in the face of increasingly severe threats from the enemy, the R.O.C. armed forces, as a strong shield protecting the nation, remains fully prepared. All personnel are on high alert and will adhere to the principle of "not escalating conflicts, not provoking disputes." They will respond cautiously and appropriately to provocations in the gray zone, with the capability, determination, and confidence to defend the sovereignty of our nation and the safety of our people.
