MND News Report
Date: 23:15, September 10, 2024

On September 10, the Ministry of National Defense (MND) stated that Capt. Hsieh Pei-hsun (Air Force Academy Class of 2016; 710 flight hours) of the 2nd Tactical Fighter Wing took off from Hsinchu Air Base in a Mirage 2000 (single-seat aircraft No. 2047) at 20:05 for night training. However, Capt. Hsieh ejected from his aircraft after it lost thrust at 20:35 when returning to base, and the MND immediately ordered a search and rescue mission for him. Capt. Hsieh was found at approximately 22:20, and was later recovered by a Coast Guard Administration vessel at 22:40. Capt. Hsieh was found to be conscious and will be later sent to a military hospital for further examinations.
