Naval Fleet Command stated today (24th) that the Nos. 2239 and 1326 replenishing vessels of the landing boat battalion from the 151st Amphibious Fleet carried out a replenishing mission to outlying islands of Kinmen today. After unloading they set sail on their return to port. During the journey it seems the sea conditions rapidly deteriorated, causing water to get into the cabin of the No. 1326 vessel. After the officers and soldiers on board discovered the flood, they carried out emergency drainage as a contingency measure. However, the No. 1326 vessel sunk at 8 nautical miles from Liuluo Bay at 1718 hours. The crew of five officers and soldiers are safe and unharmed.

Naval Fleet Command further stated that the vessel and situation was handled properly by the officers and soldiers during the emergency and no one was injured. Eleven officers and soldiers were transferred from the two vessels, and returned to port safely. Command has already assigned a task force to investigate the incident.
