The Ministry of National Defense issues a press release about the statement "should ballistic missiles launched by the CCP targeting our eastern waters have flown over Taipei?"
In response to concerns from the outside world "should ballistic missiles launched by the CCP targeting our eastern waters have flown over Taipei?", the Ministry of National Defense (MND) stated today (4th) that the main flight path of the ballistic missiles after launch was outside the atmosphere, and so exerted no risk over the vast ground of their flight. The missile protection systems of countries are furnished based on calculations of landing points.
The MND further stated that the Armed Forces can accurately grasp the trajectory of Dongfeng series missiles launched by the CCP using the surveillance and reconnaissance system, and predicted their landing point would be in eastern waters and thus not pose any harm to the island. Therefore, air defense alerts were not released.
In addition, since the primary objective of the missile launch by the CCP was to deter the nation, we will not release information about its flight path or other information to safeguard the operational capability of intelligence and the surveillance and reconnaissance system of the Armed Forces.
