Naval Command issues a press release in response to media reports explaining that "it was shocked to learn that there was a suicide at the Navy military compound of Zuoying" (November 16, 2021)
In response to media reports that "it was shocked to learn that there was a suicide at the Navy military compound of Zuoying", Marine Corps Command stated today (16th) that one of its team members was suspected to have self-harmed at the camp. Colleagues immediately provided first aid and rushed him to the Zuoying Branch of the Kaohsiung Armed Forces General Hospital. His family members were also notified. The hospital staff was able to revive him and he was transferred to the ICU for observation.
Marine Corps Command further stated that it has already set up a task force to investigate and assigned special personnel to accompany the serviceman's family members. It has requested the hospital to provide the best care for the serviceman. Command will also cite this case as an illustration of how all units can strengthen education and care for all servicemen to prevent the recurrence of a similar case.
