Matsu Defense Command stated that a non-commissioned officer, whose surname is Wu, was suspected of taking advantage of his position yesterday (3rd) and have gotten involved in a sexual act with a female colleague, thus becoming a suspect of "infringement of sexual autonomy." After the unit learned about the report, servicemen from the unit immediately accompanied the victim to seek medical treatment. Later, the suspect was interrogated and a case opened by a prosecutor from the Lienchiang District Prosecutor’s Office. The plea to have the suspected serviceman placed under custody and forbidden from meeting anyone today was approved. Command has also set up a special case team to conduct an administrative investigation into the matter and will review its negligence based on internal management.
Matsu Defense Command emphasized that it will fully work with prosecutors and the police in follow-up investigations, and review the action based on the principle of "concurrent measures of criminal and disciplinary punishment." Command aims to consistently strengthen education on military (legal) discipline and gender separation to establish an accurate understanding while upholding the military reputation among servicemen.
