The National Defense University (NDU) issues a press release stating that "men in upper classes are believed to have been punished for improper videos and pictures of the School of Political Science and Warfare" (July 26, 2021)
In response to media reports that "men in upper classes are believed to have been punished for improper videos and pictures of the School of Political Science and Warfare", the NDU clarifies today (26th) that the content of the report, which included statements such as "serious punishment", "use of lynching" , and "retaliation", are incorrect. As such, the school urges everyone to refrain from excessive speculation and slander, and not disclose incorrect information.
The NDU stated that the students who violated class discipline will be punished in adherence with the principles of fairness and justice. According to the "Student Regulations for Undergraduate and Postgraduate Students of the National Defense University ", the school held a punishment evaluation meeting and issued appropriate sanctions. The school will continue to encourage students to have a proper mindset and strengthen counseling and coaching measures. The individuals involved in the illicit recording and distributing of material have been investigated by a special task force of the Ministry of National Defense (MND), and the case has been transferred to the relevant judicial authorities for further investigation on suspicion of committing crimes under criminal law, such as "jeopardizing secrecy" and "disseminating obscene images".
The NDU emphasizes that it will continue to strengthen publicized safety regulations on information protocols, and requirements of military discipline and camp regulations, to enhance law and discipline abiding among students and avoid the recurrence of similar incidents.
