The Ministry of National Defense issues a press release stating that the "Armed Forces Officer's Club" will be dissolved and closed on July 31st, 2021 (June 1, 2021)
The Ministry of National Defense elaborates on the reports of the closure of the Armed Forces Officer's Club as follows:
- The primary task of the MND is to promote national defense affairs. As for the Armed Forces Officer's Club, it is to provide high-quality dining and celebrations for officers and soldiers of the Armed Forces. To work in line with government policies, the land on which the club stands will be allocated to the National Property Administration, Ministry of Finance, for reuse. After review, as the club is not needed at this time, it will be dissolved and closed.
- Due to changes in consumption patterns, the operating costs have increased year-on-year. The MND has, based on the "Fiscal Discipline Of Public Finance Law" and "The Dissolution Mechanism Measures for Non-business Special Fund of the Central Government" carried out a review, and scheduled that the club will be dissolved and close business operations on July 31st, 2021. The club has already suspended operations as of May 5th due to the novel coronavirus pneumonia epidemic.
- The MND is most grateful for the support of the Armed Forces Officer's Club on behalf of all. We are honored and proud of all the employees who have dedicated their time and effort over many years, and we would like to offer our deepest gratitude for their work. The MND will give priority to protecting the rights and interests of employees, and has given out severance payment as well as needed documents in accordance with the law. The MND will also request the Employment Services Office of the Department of Labor of the local government to assist in employment counseling and applications for subsidies.
