In response to media statements online stating that "the commanding officer has expressly indicated that a major, a company commander, should take the lead in getting vaccinated, otherwise there is no hope of promotion," the Ministry of National Defense (MND) today (15th) refutes the statement as untrue and has provided the following explanation:
- The MND has repeatedly emphasized that vaccinations for officers and soldiers of the Armed Forces will be conducted by way of "encouragement, not coercion", and the MND respects personal wishes.
- Whether to get vaccinated or not has nothing to do with personal promotion, nor is it a factor when considering personnel movements. The content of this media statement is absurd and is misleading for the general public.
