The Ministry of National Defense (MND) stated today (14th) that a prosecutor of the New Taipei District Prosecutors' Office requests the detention of the Director of the Facilities and Construction Section of the Armament Bureau, and explains as follows:
- In 2017, the bid for a new construction project at Fuxing Camp of the Air Force was opened and contracted by the Air Force, while the Facilities and Construction Section of the Armament Bureau was responsible for project review. The work is currently supervised and is being implemented according to the contract.
- In this case, Major General Chang was awarded with a non-prosecution action after investigation by the New Taipei City Prosecutors' Office. As the prosecution authorities have re-investigated the case, the MND will fully collaborate with them to help clarify the case.
- The MND will firmly adhere to "administering by law, and not wronging nor indulging." At this time, the case has entered the judicial investigation stage. Should a violation of the law be discovered, it shall be handled objectively according to the law.
