In response to media reports that "two stone lions on Shangzhi Bridge of Meilun River were pushed off by some individuals," the Air Force Command states today (22) that these individuals are non-commissioned officers from the Air Defense Command, including Sergeant Chang, that stayed outside the camp during holiday on March 30. After some drinks, Sergeant Chang accidentally knocked down the two stone lions on Shangzhi Bridge in Hualien. Later, the relevant personnel called Hualien County Government and expressed their apologies, as well as completed the restoration, with forgiveness rendered. Furthermore, the unit has also issued severe punishments in accordance with relevant regulations to discipline said individuals.
The Air Force Command emphasizes that the misconduct of all related colleagues will be punished based on the principle “not wronging nor indulging,” and these servicemen will be strictly penalized from any leniency according to the relevant regulations. Furthermore, citing similar cases, the Command will continue to implement requirements of military discipline and strengthen the management of barrack regulations to prevent the recurrence of similar cases.
