Naval Command issues a press release in response to media reports stating that "the Armed Forces have too little experience with live ammunition, so the Navy SUT heavyweight torpedo has put out of commission" (April 15, 2021)
In response to media reports that "the Armed Forces have too little experience with live ammunition, so the Navy SUT heavy torpedo has put out of commission", Navy Command states today (15th) that the content of this report is not factual, and clarifies as follows:
1. The existing missiles and torpedoes of the Navy are maintained in accordance with technical orders, while inspections are carried out based on planned schedules, so there will not missiles or torpedoes put out of commission.
2. The Navy has executed various shooting trainings according to orders from the Ministry of National Defense (MND) and annual training plan of the Navy to sustain the combat power of troops. In addition, submarines have implemented torpedo exercises every year (equivalent to a torpedo warhead head) to drill officers and soliders in shooting and strengthen the training effectiveness of troops. Command appeals to our nationals for support.
