Naval Command issues a press release in response to media reports stating that "the National Chung-Shan Institute of Science & Technology is unable meet the needs of the Navy" (March 16, 110)
In response to media reports that "the Chung-Shan Institute of Science & Technology (CSIST) is unable to meet the needs of the Navy", Naval Command elaborates today (16th) as follows:
- The related weapon and equipment configuration system of "next-generation guided-missile frigate" is designed and planned according to naval combat requirements. As for weapons and equipment on military vessels, the Navy will, mainly and with priority, use weapons and equipment developed by the CSIST after they are completed and have cleared combat evaluation and requirements, demonstrating that they are in line with military operations demands. For parts that need improving, the MND requests the CSIST to make enhancements, following which the Armed Forces will carry out careful evaluation to facilitate the implementation of the entire project.
- The Navy will continue to implement Domestic Shipbuilding Program policy, and promote various projects of the Navy according to plan to establish its maritime combat capability in line with defense operations. Command appeals to nationals for support.
