Army Command issues a press release noting media reports that "a scandal has been uncovered during tire procurement by the Army, while officers from the auto-base plant were interviewed on suspicion of illegal profit-gaining from vendor-supplier relationships."

In response to media reports that "a scandal has been uncovered during tire procurement by the Army, while officers from the auto-base plant were interviewed on suspicion of illegal profit-gaining from vendor-supplier relationships", Army Logistics Command states that a vendor-supplier was suspected of violating the law during the procurement of the "Radial Tire" by Command in 2017. Command has, on its own initiative, transferred the case to the Taipei District Prosecutor's Office for investigation. As a follow-up investigation by prosecutors, searches and interviews were carried out, which Command respects and is complying with. Details of the case are elaborated as follows:

I During the inspection and acceptance stage of this case in 2017, it was found that the vendor-supplier for the procurement case of vehicle parts was suspected of forging product verification and registration certificates. Command immediately terminated the agreement, and transferred it to the prosecution office for investigation that year. Thus, all procurement procedures are handled and administered according to laws and regulations, and media reports that "the agreement was terminated after the scandal was uncovered" are untrue.

II The Taipei City Investigation Office of the Justice Investigation Bureau (MJIB) carried out searches and interviews with officers and non-commissioned officers, including Lin and others, today (8th) at the Command barracks. Command will adhere to the principle of "no wronging or indulging violations", and fully cooperate with the judicial investigations to clarify the situation.

III All procurement and inspections of military products by Command will be handled according to the principle of "administration according to the law", and Command appeals to nationals to continue rendering their support for the Armed Forces and national defense.
