The Ministry of National Defense (MND) issues a press release to clarify information that "self-made 30-mm training bombs by the Armaments Bureau of the MND are far from stable, and even the Army and the National Chung-shan Institute of Science and T

In response to media reports that "self-made 30-mm training bombs by the Armaments Bureau of the MND are far from stable, and even the Army and the NCSIST had refused these inferior-quality bombs," the MND states today (7th) that the content of this report deviates from the facts, and clarifies as follows:

  1. The first phase of the technical transfer cooperation for ammunition of the 30-mm machine gun commenced in 2019. As of now, assembly tests are completed and the situation is believed to be normal as they meet the quality requirements of the original ammunition. As for the second phase, this has been well accommodated in the planned schedule, and it is expected that the initial operational testing and evaluation will be completed by the end of 2021.
  2. The production center already purchased additional testing chain guns at the beginning of the research and development phase, so there is no need to borrow any barrels from the Army or the NCSIST. Media reports clearly stray from the facts of this case.
  3. The MND emphasizes that the development and testing of ammunition for 30-mm machine guns are carried out according to the schedule, and the MND appeals to our nationals to continue supporting military preparations as well as promoting local armament build-up by the military.
