Reserve Command issues a press release regarding media reports that "a reserve on education recall was sexually harassed" (November 23, 2020)

In response to media reports that "a reserve on education recall was sexually harassed", Reserve Command explained the situation today (23rd):

  1. An anonymous reserve going by the name “A” filed a complaint with Legislator Luo of Legislative Yuan on November 9 this year saying that when he received the education call in a series of notes under number "Po-Ai-Jia-Tzu No. 251706" from November 2 to 6, he was being abused by the neighboring reserve through offensive language and actions.
  2. After receiving the report, Command immediately contacted the party concerned and interviewed the relevant cadres. It was understood that reserve A didn't report the situation to the unit cadres nor filed a complaint through the closing seminar after the training. He only addressed his complaint to Legislator Luo after his dismissal. The unit did not have the opportunity prior to this to deal with the situation first-hand. Command has already explained to Legislator Luo that it should honor the willingness of the party concerned in the case, and assist in handling the sexual harassment incident via legal proceedings or any other due channels and procedures.
  3. Reserve Command emphasizes that the "Sexual Harassment Prevention Act", "Military Personnel Dealing With Sexual Harassment And Sexual Abuse Prevention" and other regulations will be introduced to military laws and discipline programs during the period of education recall. As such, it should strengthen the training of education call for reserves regarding sexual harassment advocacy and prevention work, thus preventing this situation from occurring again.
