The Ministry of National Defense issues a press release to refute media reports that "the reason for incidents were servicemen were killed in performing their Armed Forces duties over the past few years is due to bad luck."

In response to the media report that "the reason for incidents were servicemen were killed in performing their Armed Forces duties over the past few years is due to bad luck," the Ministry of National Defense (MND) strictly refuted the comments today (18th) and it believes media discourse should be faithful to the facts, biased remarks do not help, and it should not discredit the hard work conducted by devoted servicemen to uphold national security. All in all, what the Armed Forces count on is their precise training and patriotism, and also the courage to undertake "missions" to safeguard the sustainable survival and development of the country in times when national security needs defended. They never rely on the media’s erroneously claim that it is to do with "luck". Most of all, servicemen of the Armed Forces have well embraced the ambition of "exhausting everything to protect the homeland under the blue sky and white sun" so as to live up to the trust of the country and its people.

The MND pointed out that the Armed Forces will continue to strengthen its combat readiness training to ensure national security so it can cope with the increasingly severe situation in the Taiwan Strait. Regarding accidents, the MND will uphold a pragmatic attitude to learn from experience, investigate the causes, reduce risk factors, and stabilize the mindset among servicemen and their families.

The MND emphasizes that it will follow instructions issued by President Tsai, the commander in chief, as "all troops of the Armed Forces should stand up and stick to their posts". The Armed Forces will never display any gap in their combat power in face of military threats from the Communist China army, while our nationals are called upon to render support and encouragement for all servicemen of the Armed Forces."
