The Armed Forces Reserve Command issued a press release regarding the media coverage titled “Construction of gravesite for former president Lee at Wuzhi Mountain Military Cemetery behind schedule” October 3, 2020

With regard to the media coverage on exposure of the designated zone for military dignitaries at Wuzhi Mountain Cemetery and on the schedule of gravesite construction for former president Teng-hui Lee’s interment, the Armed Forces Reserve Command (“AFRC”) made the following statements today, saying that the construction is now on track and will be completed as planned.

The AFRC said the construction at the designated zone is being carried out in three stages. The first one centers upon the retaining walls, which were completed as of September 25. The second stage features the main structure of the tomb, which is expected to finish by October 4, 2020. The third stage, landscape planning and construction, will begin following interment. The AFRC said the construction proceeds exactly as planned. They reject any media coverage that is not substantiated.

Out of respect for Lee’s family, the construction site will not be open to the public. In case of any media coverage requirements, photos will be available upon request.
