In response to the media coverage titled “Major General accused of dishonest application for reimbursement of 30-million-NT-worth bonus in collective corruption case regarding the Clouded Leopard firefighting system,” the Ministry of National Defense made the following statement:
The Ministry of National Defense regrets to learn that Major General Zhu, former Chief of Factory 202, and 3 other staff members were prosecuted by the New Taipei City District Prosecutors’ Office for dishonest claim of performance bonus by artificially reporting annual operation surplus in 2015. All involved members have been displaced from their current positions and subjected to military disciplines in addition to legal prosecution, which range from a minor demerit to a major one based on the severity of their respective offenses.
The Ministry of National Defense calls for the justice to be served and will do everything to assist with judicial investigation. In the meantime, the offenses conducted by Major General Zhu and all the other involved members will be reviewed and quoted as a case study for future military legal training in hopes of honoring the paramount importance of the rule of law in the military.
