In response to media reports that "artillery firing at Matsu and Dongyin almost ended up with risky re-scheduling of flight for three days! There was no re-scheduling after careful coordination." The MND solemnly clarified today (11th) that this report was inaccurate, and explained as below:

1. The report allegedly stated that "Dongyin Command Headquarters carried out artillery firing around Dongyin waters on November 7, 8 and 14, and requested the shipping company to re-schedule their flights of Vessel Taima". This is not true. The headquarters verified that the shooting date planned by Dongyin Command Headquarters in November was 25 and 26, which did not, in any way, shape or form, affect flight operations.

2. Regarding an artillery firing announcement by Dongyin Command Headquarters, its application procedures are conducted as based on the "Notification Operation Guidelines of the National Armed Forces for Live Fire". Relevant units are notified 15 days in advance. The Command has, for a long period of time, established such a tacit understanding with regional shipping and flight companies, and will never affect shipping and flight safety. The report is untrue and the situation has now been clarified.
