In response to the media report that "the balance from MIM-104F PAC-3 being directly used to purchase missiles without returning to the national treasury is being questioned as it is inconsistent with previous wording", Air Force Command clarified today (27th) that it was inconsistent with the facts of the matter.

Air Force Command pointed out that it has implemented the project based on the interpretation of the communication from the Directorate-General of Budget, Accounting and Statistics of Executive Yuan, ROC. As noted, it states that the Command can carry out the project according to the rule of not increasing the total budget for the overall project, and the amount available during the period of implementing the project can be used to replenish a shortage of the original ammunition procurement so as to "cope with the latest developments, combat readiness needs, and other specific reasons."  Nonetheless, the balance used has to be incorporated into the fiscal budget of 2021, which must be sent to Legislative Yuan for review. Hence, the project is processed fully in compliance with relevant laws and regulations.

Air Force Command emphasizes that the Armed Forces have the ability to determine and defend the country in the face of increasingly severe threats from adversaries. Regarding related procedures for establishing projects that enable the military to continue building its strength, they are processed in accordance with the "Operation Regulations for the Acquisition of Weapons and Equipment for the Armed Forces". Our nationals are called on to continue to support the Air Force.
