The Army Command issued a press release regarding the media reports on "Kinmen Defense Command is suspected of using the name of reporters residing in Kinmen County to apply for wine in celebration of the 823 commemorative event from the county gove

In response to media reports that "Kinmen Defense Command is suspected of using the name of reporters residing in Kinmen County to apply for wine in celebration of the 823 commemorative event from the county government", the Kinmen Defense Command of the Army stated today (20) that the report has deviated from the facts and is considered biased. The command would like to clarify the following:

1. The "Commemoration Event of the 823 Campaign" is an annual event in the Kinmen region that is dedicated to remembering the predecessors who participated in the war as they sacrificed their lives. Furthermore, the event has worked in combination with local cultural characteristics for marketing. As such, Kinmen County Government adopted said model last year as it conducts events sponsored by the command and plans to present representative servicemen of war and their dependents, as well as accompanying reporters, with wine on official business. As such, Kinmen Defense Command express its respect to officers and soldiers who participated in the war on behalf of Kinmen County Government.

2. Kinmen Defense Command has sent an official letter to Kinmen County Government based on regulations and applied for the needed official wine for this event. In order to help the preparatory tasks work out smoothly, the command has taken the number of reporters who visited last year to pre-determine journalists for registration, and the amount of wine was sent out and the case was subsequently wrapped up based on the situation of the actual visit, which is thus clarified.
