MP: offenders will be severely punished according to law
In response to media reports that "military police is involved in the sexual exploitation of children and teenagers," the military police command explained as follows:
1. A private soldier with the surname Cheng from the service company of the 202 command under the MP command is suspected of violation against the "Child and Juvenile Sexual Exploitation and Prevention Regulations" because of cognitive bias. The command has worked with Taipei Shilin District Prosecutor's Office for investigation and also convened the punishment meeting that approved to "abolish the original sanction of starting service as disciplinary action" based on the offence by private Cheng to render violation severely by law. During regular days, private Cheng is responsible for internal guard post in the command and does not serve for any duty of security service for the president. The media reports are erroneous, and the command should hereby clarify.
2. The MP Command emphasized that the command should adhere to the principle of "not wronging nor releasing unjustly" as for dealing by law, and it deeply regrets violations by its officers and soldiers. Again, the command will continue to require all units to persistently implement military (law) discipline and education, as well as strengthen the awareness of law among its officers and soldiers in order to prevent similar cases from happening again.
