The Military Police Command issued a press release on the media report regarding "dual-stage renewal project for the pistol of Armed Forces, MPs cannot be required to use domestic T75K3 pistol" (August 8, 2020)

In response to the media report regarding "dual-stage renewal of pistols for the Armed Forces, the military police cannot be required to use domestic T75K3 pistols," the MP command stated today (8) that the content of the report had deviated from facts and clarified as follows:

1. The command has prepared to replenish new-type pistols for the tri-services, which is a continuation of the procurement project from 2018 to 2022 by the Army. As such, it has coordinated the build-up and establishment regarding the needs of the command and other forces and completed business analysis and evaluation based on those build-up procedures. Furthermore, it has also taken into account such factors as "usage experience and high satisfaction by the Army," "overall logistics maintenance," and "source of wartime acquisition" before the commission was granted for production.

2. The T75K3 pistol is of the same grade as those active pistols used in Europe and the United States, while the average palm size of our nationals is considered in the ergonomic design. As such, combat evaluation has been completed, with all of the parts and accessories manufactured in the country. With no problems of after-sale services and service capacity, the pistol is found to meet overall logistics consistency. After a complete cost analysis, the price is set as processed for procurement. Therefore, what was reported by the media is inconsistent with the facts and is hereby clarified.

3. This project complies with the combat requirements of tri-services, whereas the policy is carried out in accordance with the "independence of national defense," as well as the related procurement operations of the "Government Procurement Law" to ensure the quality of procurement. Therefore, the command calls for support from our nationals.
