The Ministry of National Defense issued a press release with regard to the media coverage titled “Army Academy denied China-made photovoltaic system”

In response to the media coverage titled “Army Academy awarded photovoltaic system bid to Hua Wei,” the ROC Army Academy denied such a report, saying that the project has been launched and nothing in the coverage coincides with the fact. The Academy stressed that they use nothing made in China that has information security concerns and made the following statement:

1. In support of the government’s energy policy, the Army Academy encourages solar energy providers to sell their energy to Taipower using photovoltaic systems on government-owned property rented by the Academy. A portion of the income from selling solar energy will be seized for the public treasury.

2. The said project was awarded to Cheng Yang Energy Co., Ltd, which is currently applying for approval with the city officials of Kaohsiung. The construction and even the preparatory work have not yet been launched.

3. The project will be conducted based on information security protocol stipulated by the Ministry of National Defense and thus will not entangle any products made in China. Components and machines should be accompanied by certificates of compliance validating where they are made. In case of doubt, the law or the contract should prevail.
