In response to the media coverage dated July 19 with the title “Procurement of combat tablets does not come with advanced information security protection,” the Ministry of National Defense (“MND”) hereby said that it is far from the truth and made the following statement as a rebuttal:

1. The project requires in writing that the bid winning contractor sign a confidentiality affidavit. The featured system as well as the hardware has not been installed in the Joint Operation Command Center as indicated by the certain media outlets.

2. The information security management for the tablet devices will be performed strictly in accordance with the ministry’s protocols of information encryption, physical isolation and remote control. There has been no information security hazard or leaking of information from tablet computers since October, 2019. The procurement in 2020 has been accompanied by renovated, tightened control schemes, which further strengthen information security.

3. The procurement of both software and hardware as well as required its information security measures are found to be completely in compliance with the Government Security Act. The MND feels sorry for misleading information covered by certain media outlets and requests responsible press coverage.
