The Ministry of National Defense (MND) said today (19) that the "Central Epidemic Command Center '' had conducted a screening test overnight on all 744 officers and men upon the Goodwill Fleet yesterday, and the results were officially released at the press conference today. The number of confirmed cases is 21, including three personnel yesterday, totaling 24. All of the confirmed cases are crew members from Panshi Fast Combat Support Ship, while no confirmed case has yet been reported from the remaining two ships, the La Fayette Class Cruiser and the ROCS Yueh Fei Missile Cruiser.
The MND pointed out that this Ministry will create a special investigation team, with the Deputy Minister of Military and Political Affairs acting as the team leader and including such members as the Chief Inspector General's Office, the Military Medical Bureau, the Political Warfare Bureau, the Department of Legal Affairs, and relevant naval departments as they work together with the “Central Epidemic Command Center.” Most importantly, the team will be based on "transparency, trust, and professionalism" as its commanding principles to clarify the mission of the Goodwill Fleet regarding how it has carried out all the anti-epidemic actions throughout the entire process, and the investigation will scrupulously pursue all facts from any cover-ups.
