Ministry of National Defense Press Release Response to Media Coverage on Night Drill by Chinese Military Aircraft over Waters off Southwest Taiwan Coast March 16, 2020
In response to the media coverage on the night drill by Chinese military aircraft across the Taiwan Strait, the Ministry of National Defense (MND) said today on the 16th that they have spotted the nocturnal activities of KJ-500 and J-11 warplanes over the waters of the southwest coast of Taiwan at around 19:00 the same day. Such military planes approached our air defense identification zone (ADIZ) and were intercepted by the ROC aerial reconnaissance aircraft, which dispersed the Chinese warplanes through radio warnings.
The MND would like to reassure the citizens of the ROC of their determination and readiness to safeguard the borders of the country by conducting real-time intelligence collection, surveillance and reconnaissance in and around the nation’s aerial and naval territories.
