As Southern Taiwan is suffering due to torrential rain, and the national army is paying full effort to assist local government executing disaster prevention and rescue tasks, the series of activities of the Ministry of National Defense (including “Embracing and enjoy happy moments with the national army – gathering party of military and citizen” originally scheduled at August 30th in Taipei International Convention Center and “Iron Homerun - CPBL first pitch event” originally scheduled at August 31st in Taoyuan Baseball Stadium) for the celebration of 2018 Armed Forces Day have been cancelled.
The Ministry of National Defense emphasized that due to the impact of tropical depression and southwesterly flow recently, the Central Weather Bureau predicted that torrential rain still may occurred in south central and southeast area, and the national army will continue to assist victims to clean up their family and make preparation to prevent loss from future torrential rain based on the belief that “suffer with people and focus on what people focused”, and thus the aforementioned events are cancelled. But we will keep holding civil national defense education activities in the future and we ask ROC people to keepsupporting and respecting the nation army.
