The Ministry of National Defense issued a press release to elaborates on the “ ‘2018 China Military Report’ issued by the US Department of Defense” (August 17th, 2018).

In response to the 2018 China Military Report, released by the US Department of Defense, the Ministry of National Defense solemnly says today (17th) that in face with regional scenarios and changes of the enemy status, the armed forces develops deterrence and asymmetrical military power based on the military strategy of “defense and multi-layered deterrence” as well as the overall defense and warfare concept of “safeguarding military power, showdown at coastline, and enemy annihilation on shore”. The Ministry of National Defense will continue building solid defensive forces and strengthen military alliance power to effectively ensure national security.
The Ministry of National Defense points out that, in face with the PRC’s “propaganda and war threats”, the armed forces adheres to the principle of “never expect the enemy to give up attack but always expect ourselves to be well-prepared” and is always firmly on duty. Together the military and civilians can have a strong will to stand firm against enemies. In addition, in response to enemy threats and war preparations, the national defense budget for 2019 has been increased to speed up military-building and combat power. Such is testament to strengthening our own defense.
The Ministry of National Defense stresses that the armed forces is capable of defending the nation and safeguarding its security. It will continue to promote independent national defense, integrate national defense resources, invest in priority items of military-building and war preparations, and build a combat force highly mobilized, with high-quality, high-effectiveness, and high-precision, so as to ensure national security and a stable and peaceful region.
