“Clarification Notice” – National Defense University Issues Press Release Clarifying that “The University has not discriminated against AIDS patients, and no students were expelled for contracting the disease.” (August 15th 2016)
Regarding the media report, “National Defense University Was Fined NT$1 Million by Centers for Disease Control (CDC) for Suspension of HIV-Positive Student”, the National Defense University clarified today (15th) that:
“The University has not discriminated against AIDS patients, and no students were expelled for contracting the disease.” The student in question was punished for violation of information security regulations, resulting in the failing of his conduct grades. In accordance with the implementation regulations of student conduct, the decision, authorized through the resolution of the Reward and Penalty Committee, was made to expel the student. After the ruling of the Taipei High Administrative Court (Complaint Case No. 196, 2015) the procedures of the university are conducted in compliance with the regulations.
