Ko Wen-An Awards Medal to Guatemala Military Official as a Token of the Lasting Military Friendship between Taiwan and Guatemala (March 11th 2016)
(Military News Agency reporter, Li Yi-Hao, March 10th) Deputy Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Ko Wen-An will be awarding the “Order of Resplendent Banner with Special Rosette” to the retiring Guatemala military official Colonel West on behalf of the government today in commemoration of the strong friendship between Taiwan and Guatemala and friendly exchanges.
The medal awarding ceremony will be held in the afternoon in the Ministry of National Defense and invite guests of honor including Guatemala Ambassador Olga Maria Aguja Zuniga and other military officials of other countries stationed in Taiwan.
The Deputy Chief of Staff pointed out that, during his post in Taiwan, Colonel West has made outstanding contributions to the promotion of military exchanges and cooperation between Taiwan and Guatemala. As Guatemala is our strategic ally, his long-term efforts in the promotion of high-level exchanges and military education have produced significant results.
The Deputy Chief of Staff also hopes that following the return of Colonel West to his country, he will be able to continue to develop the bonds between our countries and promote the military exchanges on top of the current foundation to strengthen our military friendship.
Colonel West also expressed his thanks for the active and professional assistance rendered to him during his tenure in Taiwan and pointed out that Taiwan is home to an extensive Chinese culture, magnificent landscapes, rich culture and highly developed constructions, and the friendliness and enthusiasm of the Taiwanese have left him a memorable impression. After his return, he will continue to open his doors to welcome the visiting friends of Taiwan.
