Experiencing the Suffering of the People – Airing of the Military Rescue Operations on Thursday (March 3rd 2016)
(Military News Agency reporter, Chou Li-Xing, Taipei, March 2nd) The unexpected strike of the earthquake before the Chinese New Year has greatly shaken southern Taiwan and the merciless ravages of the quake have caused massive losses to the civilians. Military forces, police, firefighters and medical personnel have heard the cries of the people and offered their assistance in the disaster zones at the first instance. The rescue operations of the military in action were captured on footage by Military News Agency reporter and will be aired on this Thursday afternoon (March 3rd) on “National Defense Online” program to feature a detailed account of the rescue operations, and how the military has abided by the spirit of “Treating Rescue Missions with Paramount Importance” to protect the people and their homeland.
Following the earthquake on February 6th, the military has deployed troops, vehicles, machinery and professional equipment to assist the Tainan City government in operations, such as rescue, medical treatment and settlement. In the eight days of the rescue mission, the officers and soldiers have relied on their solid training and professional expertise, and utilized equipment such as Life Detectors and Reconnaissance Ball to help in the search of survivors alongside the rescuing teams in the collapsed rubble. Their efforts have enabled them to successfully detect the locations of various survivors so that the rescuing teams may dig deeper to free the survivors from the rubble.
