The Naval Command issued a press release stating that "The secret mission of the Goodwill Fleet was exposed and was to conduct maritime confrontation exercises with countries in the South China Sea" (May 12, 2020)
In response to media reports that "The secret mission by the Goodwill Fleet was exposed and was to conduct maritime confrontation exercises with countries in the South China Sea," the Navy Command said today (12) that it had briefed the Legislative Yuan of the mission itinerary of the Goodwill Fleet in a classified special report on May 4. In general, maritime exercises of any kind do not occur with any country, and the content of said media reports is purely speculative.
The Navy Command urged the media to properly fulfill their duties as public instruments and not make any false reports to prevent misleading the general public.
