The Ministry of National Defense (MND) stated today (13th) that after repeated comparisons between surveillance and recon data, it had found that the closest distance that CPC aircraft came to Taiwan was 33 sea-mile southeast of Orchid Island according to respect the schematic diagram of activity into the surrounding airspace of the Taiwan Strait by the People’s Liberation Army on August 7. This data indicates that the original diagram was erroneously marked.
The MND stated that it will conduct an in-depth review into its operational oversights, and strengthen personnel education and training in the coming days. It will also add additional data points, such as Orchid Island and Green Island, to the schematic diagram, so our nationals have a clearer appreciation of the developments of enemy threats.
