In response to the media reports stating that "five faculty instructors of National Defense University (NDU) have applied for retirement, but are being forced to stay in their posts," NDU stated today (19th) that several military teachers from the Chung Cheng Institute of Technology, NDU, have recently applied for retirement, however, since it is not easy to cultivate national defense science and technology talent and the institute is short of teachers, it has expressed its desire to "retain talent for the country" to the persons concerned. The president has also personally met with these teachers in the hope that they can be persuaded to remain with the school and serve in their posts to help the Armed Forces develop national defense science and technology talent.

With further elaboration from NDU, these teachers indicated that they had no intention of continuing teaching at the institute after repeated communication and exchanges with the school. The school has therefore quickly recruited new teachers to fill the posts as needed, taking scientific research and military needs into account. Based on the Act of Assignment for Officers and Non-commissioned officers of the Army, Navy, and Air Force, it will also process the retirement of these teachers and transfer them back to their respective services. Subsequent operations are then processed by each of the services according to their powers and responsibilities. The Ministry of National Defense (MND) has not provided any additional guidance or requirements in this case so media reports that "NDU did not comply with the policy guidance of the MND" is not true. NDU urges the media to conduct its due diligence accordingly to avoid misleading the public.
