response to media reports that "the engine power of self-developed reconnaissance and search tactical wheel vehicles is insufficient", the Armaments Bureau of the MND stated that the entire project was implemented based on the combat needs of the Army for 2021, and a 205-horsepower engine was adopted, the development and testing of which was completed March 28, 2024. The specifications, namely hill climbing and vertical climbing, passed the test on May 30, and the vehicle is scheduled to enter initial operational evaluation by the end of 2024. Overall, the requirements all align with the operational needs of the services so the coverage of the media is inconsistent with the facts.
The Armaments Bureau stated that it will uphold the principle of indigenous national defense and continue to adopt the "Defense resources released for commercialization" policy as the build-up of military arms entails domestic production capacity to help drive the development of the defense industry, create economic benefits, ensure combat effectiveness, and create a win-win.
