The Ministry of National Defense issues a press release explaining "the arms sale of the US government to Taiwan"

The Ministry of National Defense (MND) stated today that the US government conducted "Congress Notification" procedure on two arms sales to Taiwan on June 29, including one for "30mm machine gun and ammunition" and "Order No. 2 on parts and accessories for armored vehicles" totaling $US440.20 million, and it is expected to come into effect after one month.
The MND pointed out that the United States shall continue to provide our country with defensive weapons based on the Taiwan Relations Act and Six Assurances. Among the sales, the case of the "30mm machine gun and ammunition" includes three types of ammunition – high-explosive shells, armor-piercing shells, and practice shells – and such ammunition need to be stockpiled for combat readiness to maintain regional stability.
The continuous military expansion and oppression into the gray zone by the CCP poses a serious threat. As such, this announcement of the US arms sale to Taiwan not only helps build up our counter-measure capabilities to deal with the CCP military threat, but also strengthens our defense resilience to meet warfare, exercise, and training task needs.
