The 10th Field Army stated that when roll-call was being conducted for the transportation group of the 5th Regional Support Command under its command early in the morning of the 26th, two non-commissioned officers, both of whom are surnamed Chen, had not reported to duty. Group cadres later found the two servicemen unconscious in their dormitory. CPR was immediately administered, and an ambulance called to transport them to hospital for emergency treatment. They were both unfortunately declared dead at the hospital.
The 10th Field Army expresses its deep regret and sadness at this incident, and has already contacted the deceased's family members and sealed up the scene pending investigation. The Army notified the Taichung MP and Daya Police Precinct of the City Police Department for investigation. The Taichung District Prosecutor's Office is directing the investigation, and the Army has set up a team in full cooperation with the investigation and to assist family members in handling follow-up matters.
