Time: June 26, 2023 at 12:25

In response to media reports that "the wheeled armored vehicle prototype is too tall to be put into production", the Ministry of National Defense (MND) explained  today (26th) as follows:

1.    The 105mm wheeled armoured vehicle is a scientific research project based on Army research and development needs, and two prototype vehicles (not mass-produced models) are planned from 2019 to 2023. The case has currently passed research and development assessment, and the vehicle height complies with the specifications of overall planning protocols of the scientific research project. In addition, the shooting accuracy and stability were found to be higher than function and performance standards. As such, an initial combat evaluation will be carried out, and the vehicle is expected to be completed in October 2023.

2. The Bureau of Armaments will follow the development procedures for large-scale weapon systems in advanced countries, and after passing the initial combat evaluation, the vehicle will be developed for mass-produced models based on the combat needs of the Army.

3. The 105mm wheeled armoured vehicle was developed for the first time in our country, and comprised comprehensive communication and collaboration with military supervision professionals so that evaluations can be carried out. Hence, it is considered a major achievement of indigenous national defense as it has taken only five years to make a significant breakthrough in key technical bottlenecks and for development to be completed. This is indeed a major achievement of our indigenous national defense. As such, the MND appeals to our nationals for their support, and requests the media to avoid speculation as it misleads the general public and is not conducive to the research and development of arms and indigenous national defense.
