In response to media reports that "Clusters of Type A influenza clusters were found at the Military Academy and Air Force Academy", the 4th TO stated today (13th) that some students from the Air Force Academy who participated in the school celebration training of the Military Academy developed flu symptoms last week. In accordance with the Control Actions by the Armed Forces for Common Infectious Diseases of the National Army, sick leave for patients with confirmed cases has been approved, and students have been managing their health from home. Anyone in close contact with affected patients are staying in segregated dormitories and their health is being monitored. The district health center has also been notified.
The 4th TO pointed out the current epidemic is under control and the school celebration ceremony will continue as planned this week. Servicemen from chemical groups have also been dispatched to carry out environmental disinfection, and high-level medical cadres from the military in the area have been stationed in the camp to stay abreast of the situation, carry out control measures, and disseminate health information. The Kaohsiung General Armed Forces Hospital also sent out infection control physicians and epidemic prevention nursing practitioners to jointly safeguard the health of students.
The 4th TO emphasized that it will implement prevention and control measures of infectious diseases with the most rigorous attitude, and follow the control measures of health units at all levels and the Ministry of National Defense (MND). It will also maintain close contact with family members to keep them fully aware of the health status of students.
