In response to media reports that "the cluster of respiratory infectious diseases at Chung Cheng Preparatory School was not immediately reported", Chung Cheng Armed Forces Preparatory School explained today (6th) as follows:

1. Since the middle of May 2023, some students in the school have developed upper respiratory symptoms and discomfort. Sick students were referred and underwent rapid screening, and were diagnosed as having type A influenza and para-influenza. Since all patients only suffered from mild illness, they received some medicine and recovered well afterwards.

2. At present, all infected students have returned home to rest and recuperate, and schooling has been switched to online teaching. As for close contacts in school, active prevention and control measures, such as segregation in the school compound, temperature monitoring, wearing masks, and washing hands frequently have been implemented.

3. The Military Medical Bureau of the MND, Military Medical Office of Army Command, and Military Medical Section of the 4th Support Command of the 8th Field Army, together with the Centers of Disease Control of the Ministry of Health and Welfare and Kaohsiung City Health Bureau visited the school to investigate and assist with management and control measures.

Chung Cheng Armed Forces Preparatory School stated that the school will not only strengthen the prevention and control work, but also implement case management, reporting, and related infection control measures in order to check the spread of seasonal flu. Besides, the school will persistently work to put concepts of hygiene education in force to take temperature for all students and faculty, request wearing masks, and implement frequent hand washing and others to effectively prevent clustering infection from recurrence again.
