The 8th Field Army stated that servicemen from Tiandan Barracks under its command discovered a fire at the bamboo forest about 800 meters outside the camp on April 12. Servicemen from the camp quickly reported the situation and notified the Kaohsiung City Fire Department and the Forestry Bureau, and set up a response team. After the military and fire department conducted discussions, they believed the safety of people and the ammunition depot were the primary considerations, and initiated measures to put out the fire.
The 8th Field Army emphasized that they were very grateful to the Kaohsiung City Fire Department and residents from the surrounding areas. Although the terrain around the area of the fire is difficult to navigate, the fire was eventually put out following concerted efforts from all parties, demonstrating the strong communication and cooperation mechanism between the military and fire-fighting units to protect the safety of the local area.
